A group of payments and banking veterans has launched Movere, an AI-based payments platform for businesses. The company says it offers more than 500 payment methods in over 100 countries through a single connection. AI agents help with integration so that an initial connection can be made in about 15 minutes. The founders have worked at NatWest, Worldpay, Nuvei and PayPal.
What it means: The payment orchestration market, platforms that connect a merchant to many providers and payment methods, is already crowded. What Movere is trying to stand out with is the use of AI agents for integration, traditionally the slowest and costliest part. If a shop really can connect in minutes rather than weeks, the cost of entering new markets falls sharply. The platform also offers services beyond payments, such as expansion advice and staff tools, a sign that new players are looking for ways to keep customers with a broader offer. For Greek e-commerce firms selling abroad, platforms like this mean more choice and pressure on prices. Evaluation needs care, though: a new provider should be checked for the licences it holds, its stability, how merchant funds are protected and fit with Greek requirements such as linking POS terminals to cash registers and reporting to myDATA. For Greek fintechs, using AI to speed up integration is an idea worth adopting in their own products. Merchants should ask any new orchestration provider for references from live customers and a clear service-level agreement before moving meaningful payment volume onto it.
