Custom software development

When no off-the-shelf product fits the way you work, we build software around your process instead of the other way round.

Most companies end up with a mix of spreadsheets, email and handwritten notes to cover whatever their official system does not. That works up to a point, then it starts costing time and causing mistakes. Custom software keeps your logic but makes it reliable, auditable and shared across the team.

What it covers

  • Business applications

Managing orders, projects, stock, staff or service requests, with roles and permissions per user.

  • APIs & services

Designing and building interfaces that connect systems, with documentation, versioning and access control.

  • Process automation

Replacing repetitive manual work: report generation, dispatching, file reconciliation and scheduled jobs.

  • Legacy modernisation

Gradual migration away from systems that are no longer maintained, without interrupting the business.

Technical standards we apply

  • Database design with referential integrity — data is neither lost nor contradictory
  • Automated tests where there is real business risk
  • Controlled database schema migrations so upgrades do not cause downtime
  • Audit logging wherever accountability is required
  • Backups with a restore procedure that is tested, not just declared

What you receive

  • A working application in a production environment
  • Complete source code and deployment scripts in your possession
  • Technical documentation and a user guide
  • Training for your team and a support period

Frequently asked questions

Why custom software instead of an off-the-shelf product?

Off-the-shelf is almost always the right answer for standardised needs such as accounting or payroll. Custom software is justified when your process is a competitive advantage, when you pay subscriptions for features you never use, or when your team spends hours every week on manual work that could be automated.

What happens to the data I currently keep in spreadsheets?

We migrate it. Data migration is a normal project stage: cleaning, field mapping, a trial import, verification by you and then the final import. Your original files stay untouched as a backup.

If we stop working together, am I locked in?

No. Code, database and documentation belong to you and sit on standard, open technologies. Any other engineering team can pick up the work without depending on us.

How is data security handled?

Encryption in transit, role-based access control, encryption of sensitive fields where required, regular backups and security updates to dependencies. For personal data we apply the data minimisation and purpose limitation principles required by GDPR.
