Klarna will be available for the first time on Commerce Hub, Fiserv's enterprise commerce platform. Merchants in the US, Canada, the UK and selected European markets will be able to offer it in store and online. The deal follows Klarna going live at 100,000 US locations through Fiserv's Clover point-of-sale system. Consumers can pay immediately, in 30 days or in interest-free instalments.
What it means: Klarna is building growth on distribution partnerships rather than signing merchants one by one. Large payment processors such as Fiserv already own the merchant relationship and the technical link at the till, so integrating there multiplies acceptance points quickly. The move into physical stores matters because most retail still happens offline. The company stresses that it makes a fresh credit decision on every transaction, which it presents as responsible lending. The mention of selected European markets shows the expansion will reach this continent too. In Greece, interest-free instalments on credit cards are already established, but card-free services appeal to consumers who do not have or do not want a credit card. From November 2026 the new EU consumer credit directive applies, bringing stricter creditworthiness checks and disclosure for such products as well. Merchants offering them should understand the new information duties. Clear checkout disclosures will matter as much as the integration itself, and consumers should treat each instalment plan as a real loan.
