Under joint ministerial decision A.1224/2026 of Greece's Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Agriculture Ministry and tax authority AADE, the myDiesel application goes live on 1 November 2026. Farmers will receive the exemption from excise duty and the related VAT directly at the fuel station, replacing the refund system. Stations must register on myAADE from 22 October and will be reimbursed automatically at least every Monday and Thursday, with checks through myDATA or eSend. An API sandbox is available for ERP systems.

What it means: The change affects two groups: farmers and fuel stations. For farmers, the biggest gain is cash flow. Under the old system they paid for fuel including the tax and waited for a refund, while now the discount applies at the moment of purchase, reported in the press at about €0.41 per litre. For stations, the burden shifts to them: they effectively advance the discount and wait for reimbursement from the state, so keeping to the twice-weekly payment schedule is critical for their liquidity. Verification through myDATA or eSend means invoices and fuel movement records must be transmitted correctly, or reimbursement is delayed. The data show around 450 stations had gaps in their registry records and only about half have fixed them, so time is tight before 1 November. For software and ERP providers, the API sandbox means they must quickly build the feature into station systems. A provision under consultation would also refund the VAT on the excise duty and protect refunds from seizure. The official presentation is scheduled for 22 October.
