Cognitive Credit, a provider of data, analytics and AI tools for corporate credit markets, has completed a 40 million dollar growth investment led by Summit Partners, with ETFS Capital also taking part. Its platform covers more than 3,500 bond and loan issuers in the US, Europe and emerging markets and delivers data through a web app, an API, an Excel add-in and a Claude connector. The money will fund US expansion, a new DealConnect product for private issuers and tools for automated credit analysis.

What it means: This round shows where the value lies when AI is applied to finance: not only in the model, but in the verified data it works on. In credit analysis, one wrong balance-sheet figure can lead to a wrong risk assessment, so being able to trace every number back to its source is critical for banks and asset managers. For Greek banks, insurers and fund managers that analyse corporate bonds, the trend means AI tools will be increasingly tied to specialised datasets rather than general models that guess. For Greek companies that issue bonds or raise money abroad, there is a practical message too: their financial statements will increasingly be read by machines, so clear, consistent and timely disclosure helps them get assessed correctly. The product for private issuers, which share figures only through secure data rooms, shows that private credit, an area supervisors are watching closely, is gaining more standardised infrastructure. The connection to AI assistants also brings credit research into the same environment where analysts now spend their working day.
