Ripple has announced new capabilities for Ripple Treasury, which serves large companies such as American Airlines, Subway, Adecco and Kingfisher. A new orchestration layer, together with the GSmart AI tools, automates cash positioning, forecasting, reconciliation, liquidity and payments. The 24/7 Returns feature lets eligible customers earn returns on digital assets held in a Ripple wallet, such as the RLUSD stablecoin, including overnight, at weekends and on holidays. The announcements were made at Swell 2026.
What it means: Corporate cash management still follows banking hours: payments that do not run at weekends, money sitting idle overnight and reconciliations waiting for the next working day. Ripple is trying to connect traditional corporate treasury with infrastructure that runs continuously, such as stablecoins. The promise of returns on cash held in stablecoins needs care, though. Both the US GENIUS Act and the EU MiCA regulation forbid issuers from paying interest to holders, so such returns come from other mechanisms with their own risks, which should be read closely. For Greek businesses, especially those making many international payments, the main interest lies in continuous operation and automation. In the euro area part of that benefit already exists through SEPA Instant payments, which run around the clock. Before any use of crypto assets in a company’s treasury, a board decision, a risk policy, correct accounting treatment and a provider licensed under MiCA are needed, and stablecoin balances are not covered by deposit guarantees.
