Apple has added beta AI assistants to Pages, Keynote and Numbers as part of its Creator Studio subscription. The assistants understand the document's content and can draft text, design slides and build tables and charts, using Apple and OpenAI models. On macOS 27 the apps support the Model Context Protocol, so external AI agents can read and edit documents. The features need an Apple Intelligence capable device and are available only in US English for now.
What it means: The most important part of the announcement is not the assistant itself but support for the Model Context Protocol. MCP is becoming a common standard that lets AI agents connect to applications and data, and Apple adopting it means a third-party agent will be able to fill in a spreadsheet or update a presentation without manual copying. For businesses that already use Macs, this opens the way to automating reports, quotes and internal documents. At the same time, it raises security questions: which agent can access which files, where content goes when OpenAI models are used, and how changes are logged. Apple has not given a timeline for other languages, so users in Greece will not see the features in Greek soon. For Greek companies, the sensible step is to list now which documents hold confidential or personal data and set rules on which AI agents may connect to them, before the capability reaches their offices.
