Meta is working with Chinese robotics company Fourier to develop humanoid robot prototypes for household chores, according to The Information as reported by PYMNTS. The first prototype, Max, stands about five feet tall, has a face that mimics expressions and five-fingered hands, and recognises voice and gestures. Max 2 will have better grip, a projector and sensors for stairs. Meta says this is internal research with no plans to sell these units.

What it means: The partnership shows that big technology companies see home robots as the next device where their AI assistants will live, after phones, smart speakers and glasses. Choosing a Chinese partner reflects China's lead in robotics hardware and component supply chains, at a time when restrictions on working with Chinese firms are growing. Meta itself admits that some components are not readily available outside China. For European and Greek businesses, household humanoids are still far from the mass market, but some issues are starting to come up. A robot with cameras and microphones inside the home collects very sensitive data, so GDPR and the AI Act will define what is allowed. The new machinery regulation and product liability rules will decide who is responsible for damage. Greek companies active in robotics, sensors or control software may find a place in the chain as specialist suppliers. Others can follow developments without rushing to invest.
